Originally from Illinois, Steve moved to Indiana in the fall of 2004 to attend Butler University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science and history in2008. After graduating from Butler University, he attended Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis, with Jordan, graduating in 2011 and being admitted to the Indiana State Bar that same year while also opening Black Acre Brewing Company.
As an owner/operator of Black Acre Brewing Company, Steve was primarily responsible for the operations of the brewery itself. Overseeing the brewing process and its quality control, while also ensuring and maintaining its regulatory compliance at both a state and federal level, including the procurement of all permits, compliance with labeling requirements, manufacturing processes and disclosures, and other related areas.
Prior to Black Acre Brewing Company, Steve worked as a Mayoral Intern, helping oversee community outreach and improvement initiatives at the Mayor’s Action Center, a legal intern at the American Civil Liberties Union – Indiana, and a reelections campaign team member for Andre Carson.
After Black Acre’s closure in 2023, Steve consulted on the design and implementation of two different brewing facilities, as well as their substantive operations and compliance. Since joining the firm, he has been responsible for obtaining new and transferred permits for various clients, providing guidance on alcoholic beverage compliance, contract formation, corporate formation, and lease review. He also currently maintains brewing operations for Black Circle Brewing.
